The Kohala Coast is frequently referred to as the “Gold Coast,” because of the sun-drenched desert landscape as well as the recent gold rush in real estate investment opportunities. I was attracted by the beauty of the landscape, the relaxed island lifestyle and the warmth of the people when I moved to Hawaii in 1994 after graduating from UCLA. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to work on the development teams of the master-planned residential resort communities of Hualalai, 49 Black Sand Beach and Pauoa Beach at Mauna Lani.
